Overview
- First responders arrived around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 4 at a Pecan Drive residence in Valdosta and found the child deceased at the scene.
- Police identified the caregiver as 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb and charged her with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.
- Investigators say Cobb was running an unlicensed daycare and had been asleep for over two hours when the boy accessed the backyard and opened a kennel holding two Rottweilers that attacked him.
- Lowndes County Animal Control took custody of the two Rottweilers involved and a third dog; the child was the only one present that day though police say Cobb typically watched about ten children.
- Cobb is being held at the Lowndes County Jail without bond as detectives process additional evidence and consider more charges, and the boy was identified by his mother on GoFundMe as Kaimir Jones.
