Overview
- The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board confirmed the pilgrimage will restart Sunday, following a joint review led by CEO Sachin Kumar Vaishya with Army, CRPF, J&K Police, SDRF and civil officials ahead of Navratras from September 22 to October 1.
- Wireless sets will be restored along the track to strengthen communications, with the Integrated Command and Control Centre used for real-time monitoring and response.
- Security plans create a multi-tier grid with police, CRPF, paramilitary units and quick response teams, alongside SDRF coordination and pre-positioned rescue tools such as gas cutters.
- Crowd management will include mandatory RFID cards with added handheld scanners, extra signage and public announcements, joint patrols along the route, and designated holding areas in Katra.
- The route had been shut since an August 26 landslide that news reports say killed 34 or 35 people and injured about 20.
