Overview
- The Centre earmarked ₹10,000 crore in the Union Budget for Bihar’s rail infrastructure upgrade under the Amrit Bharat scheme.
- On July 7, Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted surprise inspections at six stations including Patna, Muzaffarpur and Karpuri Gram to review Amrit Bharat works and lay foundation stones for underbridges, an underground subway and station redevelopments.
- Four new Amrit Bharat Express services connecting Patna–New Delhi, Darbhanga–Lucknow, Malda Town–Lucknow and Saharsa–Amritsar were announced to boost long-distance connectivity.
- Major capacity projects received approval with third-line expansion on the Bhagalpur–Jamalpur corridor and doubling works on the Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya and Rampurhat–Bhagalpur routes.
- Karpoori Gram station was moved from Sonpur to Samastipur division and slated for modern passenger amenities and safety improvements as early construction phases begin.
