Overview

• VA medical centers, outpatient clinics and Vet Centers would remain open, and veterans’ health care would not be interrupted.
• Compensation, pension, education and housing benefits would continue to be processed and paid, including decisions by the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.
• Veterans Crisis Line (988, Press 1) and VA Contact Centers (800-MyVA411) would operate 24/7, with suicide prevention, homelessness services and caregiver support maintained.
• Some functions would pause, including the GI Bill Hotline, veteran career counseling and transition assistance activities, public affairs outreach and in-person services at VA benefits regional offices.
• Burials at VA national cemeteries would proceed, but permanent headstone placement, grounds maintenance, pre-need burial processing and the cemetery assistance hotlines would be halted as lawmakers wrangle over a short-term funding bill to Nov. 21.
