UW–Platteville to Close Baraboo Sauk County Campus in May 2026

Leaders cite sustained enrollment declines as the reason for the decision.

Overview

  • In-person classes and campus activities will continue through the spring semester, ending May 22, 2026.
  • After the semester, students will receive help to complete their programs at UW–Platteville’s main campus.
  • Faculty and staff will get individualized transition plans, the university said.
  • The Baraboo campus enrolls 178 students, and officials plan to work with city and county partners on future uses of the site.
  • It marks the eighth UW System branch to close or downsize since 2023, following UW–Platteville’s earlier Richland closure.
