Overview
- UWA India’s Mumbai campus was officially inaugurated on Thursday, Sept. 17, with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Western Australia Premier Roger Cook in attendance.
- The university has committed about AUD 80 million to wholly owned campuses in Mumbai and Chennai and plans to enrol at least 10,000 students across both sites over the next decade.
- Initial programmes will award the same UWA degree as Perth and focus on computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information technology and business management.
- UWA announced 140 scholarships and bursaries, including three full scholarships with the Maharashtra government, plus student mobility options that let Indian students study in Perth for six or 12 months.
- The campus is pitched as industry‑aligned applied learning with early partnerships such as a Global Engagement Alliance with Larsen & Toubro and around 100 local jobs already created.
