UW-Madison pier collapses into Lake Mendota, injuring dozens

Between 60 to 80 people were on the pier when it collapsed into the water at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Around 25 people suffered minor injuries, with only one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at the Memorial Union Terrace pier on Labor Day.
The crowded pier collapsed suddenly, plunging students and debris into the lake.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the collapse, which happened the day before the pier was scheduled for removal.
