Overview
- The state government tabled the ₹7,844.18 crore package on Tuesday, raising Uttarakhand’s total budget to about ₹1,19,547.39 crore and splitting the supplement into ₹4,164.32 crore for capital and ₹3,679.86 crore for revenue spending.
- The largest single program allocation is ₹1,100 crore for the Annapurti paddy and wheat procurement scheme, with roughly ₹290 crore earmarked specifically for infrastructure and logistics for the Divya/Ardh Kumbh 2027 in Haridwar.
- The package sets aside ₹721 crore to lift local bodies’ share of state tax revenue from 10.5% to 12.5% in line with the Sixth State Finance Commission, which will boost funds available to rural and urban councils for local projects.
- Key social and service investments include ₹300 crore for Jal Jeevan Mission dues and works, ₹100 crore for the Atal Ayushman health scheme, ₹125 crore for the Golden Card for government employees, about ₹160 crore for medical education, and ₹200 crore for digital learning.
- Officials framed the supplement as both finishing earlier-budgeted schemes and preparing for major short-term needs such as Kumbh logistics and Joshimath resilience work, a move that should accelerate local project delivery and test the government’s implementation in an election year.
