Overview

• The plantation drive exceeded its 5 lakh sapling goal across all 13 districts
• Approximately half of the new saplings are fruit-bearing species chosen to enhance food security and biodiversity
• Thousands of plantation events were held in villages, towns, schools, Anganwadi centres and forests with support from local administrations, forest officials, NGOs, women’s groups, and youth volunteers
• The campaign built on PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative under the slogan “Celebrate Harela, repay the debt of Mother Earth”
• New regulations include a complete ban on single-use plastics and a requirement for vehicles to carry dustbins
