Uttarakhand Notifies 10% Horizontal Quota for Ex-Agniveers in Group C Uniformed Jobs

The move fits a wider state push to place Agnipath veterans in civilian uniformed roles.

Overview

  • The Personnel and Vigilance Department issued the Agniveer Horizontal Reservation Rules, 2025, on September 1, making the 10% reservation operative for direct recruitment to state Group C uniformed posts.
  • Eligibility is limited to former Agniveers who are permanent residents of Uttarakhand with an official discharge certificate and verification by the District Sainik Welfare Officer.
  • Covered roles include police constable and sub-inspector, PAC platoon commander, fireman and Fire Officer II, jail warder and deputy jailer, forest guard and forester/forest inspector, excise constable, enforcement constable, and secretariat guard.
  • Ex-Agniveers receive exemption from the physical efficiency test and relaxation in the upper age limit equal to their tenure as Agniveers.
  • The quota functions horizontally across all social categories and follows cabinet approval on August 13, aligning Uttarakhand with other states that have announced similar measures, including 20% provisions in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
