• Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Param Vir Chakra awardees will receive a one-time ex-gratia grant of ₹1.5 crore, up from ₹50 lakh.
• Recipients will continue to receive an annual grant of ₹3 lakh as part of the state’s support measures.
• The increase was unveiled at a Soldiers’ Honour ceremony in Khatima on July 25, coinciding with the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the death anniversary of Dhami’s father, late Subedar Sher Singh Dhami.
• Dhami said the decision fulfills a promise he made at a Sainik Samman ceremony earlier this year, underscoring his pledge to soldier welfare.
• This move builds on previous increments that raised Param Vir Chakra ex-gratia from ₹30 lakh to ₹50 lakh in 2022 and increased compensation for martyrs’ families to ₹50 lakh in July 2024.
