Uttar Pradesh Unveils 'Sant Kabir' Textile Parks, Orders Fast-Track Implementation

A pipeline of 659 proposals worth ₹15,431 crore positions the plan to create roughly 1 lakh jobs.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the Sant Kabir Textile and Apparel Park Scheme at a high-level review with a focus on skill development and youth employment.
  • Each park will span at least 50 acres and include a common effluent treatment plant along with ancillary units for buttons, zippers, packaging and warehousing.
  • The government will implement the scheme through a PPP model or a designated nodal agency, ensuring priority infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water.
  • Officials were told to expedite land identification and to engage powerloom weavers, with subsidised electricity already offered and solar integration to reduce costs under exploration.
  • Uttar Pradesh highlights 2023–24 textile exports of USD 3.5 billion and nearly 22 lakh direct jobs as it seeks a stronger global role for its established weaving clusters.
