- On June 29, Special Secretary Vinod Kumar issued the formal notification renaming five newly constructed state engineering colleges
- The institutions in Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Basti, Gonda and Mainpuri now honor Ambedkar, Ashoka, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maa Pateshwari Devi and Devi Ahilyabai Holkar respectively
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the initiative and Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel oversaw its execution under Governor Anandiben Patel’s approval
- Patel said the changes will position the colleges as centers of inspiration that encourage leadership qualities alongside technical expertise
- The government says the renaming seeks to blend engineering education with moral values to foster confidence and social awareness among youth
