  • Officers traced Manu Subhash through combined CCTV analysis and human intelligence, raising a bounty from ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh for information leading to his arrest.
  • When police surrounded his hideout in Farrukhabad on July 18, Subhash allegedly opened fire, injuring two officers before they returned fire and fatally wounded him.
  • Subhash was accused of abducting an eight-year-old girl from a mango orchard on June 27 and raping and murdering her; her body was found the next day in an Alipur Kheda field, about 35 km away.
  • A pistol, ammunition, cash and personal documents were recovered at the scene, and Subhash was declared dead on arrival at the district hospital.
  • Authorities will review the encounter under self-defence protocols as the investigation into the eight-year-old’s murder moves forward.
