Uttar Pradesh Overhauls RTE Admissions With Aadhaar Mandate, Online Portal and DM-Led Oversight

The overhaul aims to curb fraud through digital checks with district-level accountability.

Overview

  • Applications shift to rte25.upsdc.gov.in with Aadhaar required for the child and both parents, and age bands set at 3–6 for pre-primary and 6–7 for Class 1.
  • District Magistrates will chair new implementation and monitoring committees, with a separate CDO-led four-member panel to resolve admission disputes.
  • Schools must upload admitted students on the RTE and UDISE portals to generate a UDISE ID, without which fee reimbursement will not be processed.
  • Reimbursements will be released only after 100% verification by district officials and quarterly on-site inspections by Block Education Officers.
  • Parents face legal action for forged documents, non-compliant schools risk withdrawal of recognition, eligible families receive tuition coverage plus ₹5,000 annually for uniforms and books.
