Overview

  • The main event at Lucknow’s Regional Science Centre in Aliganj will bring nearly 5,000 students from 30 schools together for a collective pledge against single-use plastics on June 5.
  • All 22,000 government schools will host pledge ceremonies, creative competitions and practical waste segregation demonstrations on World Environment Day.
  • 147 registered NGOs will coordinate community-driven cleanup efforts along the Gomti, Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
  • Students in grades 6–12 can participate in eco-friendly poster making, three-minute extempore speeches on circular economy solutions and upcycled product model displays.
  • The state horticulture department has dispatched 25,000 saplings for student-led plantation drives with monitoring in place to track survival rates for six months.
