Uttar Pradesh Launches Major Textile Push at UPTEX Conclave

Launches and MoUs aim to accelerate park construction, raise weaver incomes, attract factory-scale investments.

Overview

  • The two-day UP Textile Conclave, which opened Tuesday, saw Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurate the event and launch the UP Tex Mitra portal, the Handloom Weaver Samriddhi scheme and a state textile training programme.
  • State and industry officials announced fresh investment commitments and MoUs reported between ₹5,196 crore and ₹5,354 crore and handed out Letters of Comfort worth about ₹163 crore plus roughly ₹60 crore in subsidies.
  • The government gave progress updates on large infrastructure projects including a 1,000-acre PM MITRA park on the Lucknow–Hardoi border with boundary-wall work nearly complete and plans to develop multiple textile parks and a dedicated machinery cluster.
  • Officials said targeted schemes have delivered cash support to thousands of handloom and powerloom weavers under programs started since 2023 and that new measures will group weavers, expand training and improve access to design, branding and markets.
  • The conclave framed these moves as building on UP’s 2017 and 2022 textile policies and argued better law-and-order, cheaper utilities and single-window clearances will help the state scale exports, create jobs and localize textile machinery production.
