Uttar Pradesh Hits ₹5.43 Lakh Crore in GeM Purchases, Draws Centre Praise

Uttar Pradesh completed more than 72 lakh purchase orders worth ₹5.43 lakh crore through GeM in FY2024-25, raising its lifetime procurement to over ₹14 lakh crore.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal hailed the state’s GeM adoption as "a source of inspiration" for other governments pursuing digital procurement reforms.
A November 26, 2024 government order unified UP’s procurement rules with GFR 2017 and GeM’s General Terms and Conditions to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Between FY2020-21 and FY2024-25, the state spent ₹65,227 crore on GeM, with Urban Development, Health and Family Welfare, and IT and Electronics topping departmental procurements.
The platform offers over 11,000 product categories and 330 service categories, empowering MSMEs, startups, and women-led enterprises to tap into public procurement.
