Overview
- The Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Dairy Federation signed an MoU on June 25 with the National Dairy Development Board to transfer operations of dairy plants in Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Kannauj and an animal feed unit in Ambedkar Nagar.
- The Kanpur plant processes up to 4 lakh litres per day while the Gorakhpur and Kannauj units each handle 1 lakh litres, and all three are expected to run at full capacity under NDDB.
- Built for ₹18.44 crore, the Ambedkar Nagar feed facility produces 100 metric tonnes of bypass protein cattle feed daily and is projected to earn ₹66.88 lakh profit this fiscal year.
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the transfer aims to make the state’s dairy sector self-reliant, technologically equipped and more profitable for farmers.
- The partnership will introduce professional management, foster active local cooperative societies and ensure planned resource use alongside proper equipment maintenance and cost reduction.
