Uttar Pradesh Gears Up to Plant Record 37 Crore Saplings in One Day

Preparations are complete with geo tagging systems, advanced soil work, nodal officer deployment in all districts for Wednesday’s drive.

Overview

  • Drive serves as the flagship event of phase two of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign launched nationally on June 5.
  • More than 25 crore citizens, 60,182 public representatives and 26 government departments are mobilised across all 75 districts.
  • Digital geo tagging, mandatory photo uploads and district nodal officers will oversee planting and track sapling survival.
  • Over 12.5 crore saplings will be planted under MGNREGA to generate rural employment and support community stewardship.
  • The state forest department will plant 3.5 crore saplings along riverbanks while farmers can earn roughly ₹42 lakh in carbon credit benefits.
