Overview
- The Forest Department is tasked with planting 12.60 crore saplings while horticulture, sericulture and other agencies share a combined target of 22.40 crore
- A network of 1,901 forest nurseries, 146 horticulture nurseries, 55 sericulture nurseries and 484 private nurseries has raised 52.43 crore saplings for the campaign
- Nodal officers have been appointed to coordinate department-wise efforts under a geo-tagging and fencing protocol to track and protect every sapling
- Plantations will focus on riverbanks, schools, hospitals, cow shelters and the Gorakhpur Link, Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Agra–Lucknow and Ganga expressways to boost biodiversity and water quality
- Families of babies born during the festival will receive green gold certificates and saplings to link newborns with lifelong environmental stewardship
