Uttar Pradesh Draft Voter List Drops 28.9 Million After Special Revision

Notices now go to unmapped voters who must validate details before the March 6 final roll.

  • Lucknow saw the steepest reduction at 30.04%, with Lucknow Cantonment recording a 39.11% fall, while Lalitpur had the lowest drop at 9.95%.
  • Officials attributed removals to permanent shifts (about 1.3 crore), untraceable voters (79.5 lakh), deceased (46.2 lakh) and duplicates (25.5 lakh), plus 7.7 lakh who did not return forms.
  • About 1.4 crore voters on the draft are classified as unmapped and will receive notices for verification before Electoral Registration Officers.
  • Claims and objections are open until February 6, decisions are due by February 27, and the Election Commission plans to publish the final state roll on March 6.
