Overview

• The chief minister directed enhanced sanitisation at all zoos, bird sanctuaries, national parks, wetlands and cow shelters, including blow-torch disinfection and strict diet inspections for animals.
• All zoo and animal-care staff must be trained to detect avian influenza symptoms and use PPE kits when working with birds and mammals.
• Poultry farms across the state will undergo stricter monitoring and face tighter controls on the movement of birds and poultry products.
• Coordination has been ordered with the Central Zoo Authority, NCDC, Health Ministry, Fisheries and Dairy Department and IVRI Bareilly for consistent implementation of technical guidelines.
• The state health department has been instructed to study H5N1’s potential impact on humans and submit a detailed risk-prevention report.
