Overview

  • The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department has finished installing about 231 km of chain-link and 41 km of solar fencing across forest areas.
  • In 2023–24, officials erected roughly 125 km of chain-link and 21 km of solar fencing, followed by 106 km of chain-link and 20 km of solar fencing in 2024–25.
  • These barriers have sharply reduced wildlife intrusions into villages, cutting crop damage, livestock losses and human casualties.
  • Trained ‘Bagh Mitras’ volunteers run awareness sessions and coordinate real-time responses to emerging wildlife threats.
  • Funding from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund has supplied drones, GPS trackers and camera traps for continuous monitoring of animal movements.
