Uttar Pradesh Cancels Non-Tax E-Challans From 2017–2021 to Lift Service Blocks

Officials plan a 30-day portal update with weekly dashboards under a legal abatement order.

Overview

  • Court-pending challans will show as “Disposed–Abated” and office-pending, time-barred cases as “Closed–Time Bar” on the transport portal.
  • The relief covers only non-tax challans from the 2017–2021 period, excluding tax liabilities, serious offences, accident cases, and IPC-linked matters.
  • Official data show 30.52 lakh challans were issued in that span, with 12.93 lakh pending including 10.84 lakh in courts.
  • Service-related holds for fitness, permits, vehicle transfer, and HSRP issuance will be removed automatically during the 30-day digital rollout supported by NIC upgrades.
  • No refunds will be issued and records will be preserved for audit, with citizens advised to check status after one month or seek help via helpline 149 or local RTO/ARTO offices.
