Overview

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned that individuals misusing drones to spread terror or incite public panic could be prosecuted under the stringent Gangster Act and even the National Security Act.
  • Bareilly police have confiscated 250 drones and announced that releases will only occur after Rakshabandhan when owners submit proper permission documents.
  • Administrations in Ayodhya, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Meerut and Bijnor have enacted blanket bans on private drone flights, allowing only police and authorised agencies to operate.
  • The state government has deployed a network of drone monitoring systems in every district and launched routine foot patrols to oversee aerial activity.
  • Officials report that many of the supposed drone sightings were actually LED-lit kites, toy helicopters or pigeons fitted with lights, triggering unnecessary alarm.
