Overview

  • A Memorandum of Association was finalized on July 16–17 between the UP Relief Commissioner’s Office and UNDP to roll out an NDMA-compliant disaster risk reduction programme
  • The state government approved a Rs 19.99 crore budget for phased implementation of multi-tiered planning and early warning systems over three years
  • A dedicated Project Management Unit will be constituted this month to operationalize UNDP’s technical proposals and oversee coordination
  • Initial vulnerability studies are set to begin in 20 major cities, with subsequent workshops to train local officials in risk assessment and information systems
  • The initiative will develop 75 district plans and 15 departmental plans while aligning UP’s strategy with NDMA recommendations and the global Sendai Framework
