Overview
- The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved ₹12 crore from the State Finance Commission to distribute 60 lakh national flags free of charge in urban poor areas under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
- Self-Help Groups linked to the State Urban Livelihoods Mission will produce the flags, generating seasonal work for approximately 29,000 women.
- District magistrate–led committees will prepare action plans and oversee special cleanliness drives at public sites under the “Swachh Nagari – Jhanda Nagari” theme.
- Madhya Pradesh has decentralized flag procurement, instructing district collectors to commission all-women SHGs to stitch millions of flags from tricolour cloth sourced in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Surat.
- The campaign seeks to boost grassroots patriotism, women’s economic empowerment and public engagement in line with broader Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives.
