Utilities Seek Rs0.48-Per-Unit Fuel Adjustment for December as Costs Rise

NEPRA will decide the CPPA-G petition at a January 29 hearing.

Overview

  • CPPA-G has asked the regulator to allow recovery of Re0.4781 per kWh under the December 2025 monthly fuel cost adjustment.
  • The request stems from a gap between the reference fuel charge of Rs9.1419 per kWh and the actual average cost of Rs9.62 per kWh.
  • Total generation reached 8,487 GWh at a fuel cost of Rs77.706 billion, with 8,208 GWh delivered to DISCOs at a net fuel cost of Rs78.957 billion.
  • Lower hydropower output and greater reliance on costly RLNG raised average costs, while nuclear led the mix at 2,126 GWh (25.05%).
  • If approved, the additional charge would appear on February electricity bills.
