Utah Teen, 16, Charged as Adult in Killing of 15-Year-Old in Ogden

Overview

• Hezekiah Plummer, 16, of Clearfield, is charged with murder plus obstruction, theft of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor.
• Police found the victim, identified by KSL as 15-year-old Chanelle Alvarez, dead from a gunshot wound to the head just before 3 a.m. Saturday at a home near 3600 Jackson Avenue.
• An autopsy indicated a close-range shot, and investigators say they believe only the victim and Plummer were in the bedroom where she was killed.
• A witness in the home reported hearing several gunshots, seeing Plummer with a firearm, and hearing him mention a robbery before fleeing; a missing Glock from the home and a gun box found in the victim’s room were noted in court documents.
• Plummer was arrested in Davis County with several ounces of marijuana and more than $4,000 in cash, the suspected firearm has not been recovered, and prosecutors have asked that he be held without bail.
