Utah Students Lift Car to Rescue Trapped Mother and Toddler

Bridgette Ponson and her son were saved by quick-thinking students and a U.S. Air Force serviceman after a driver blinded by sunlight backed into them.

A group of students at Layton Christian Academy in Utah lifted a car to rescue a mother and her two-year-old son who were trapped underneath.
The mother, Bridgette Ponson, works in the school's admissions office and was leaving work with her two children when a driver, temporarily blinded by sunlight, backed into them.
The three-year-old daughter was able to free herself, while Ponson and her son remained trapped until the students and a U.S. Air Force serviceman, Dominique Childress, lifted the car and pulled them to safety.
The two-year-old son was airlifted to the hospital but did not suffer any serious injuries. Ponson has undergone surgery and is expected to recover.
