Utah Sheriff’s Office Investigates Nighttime Gunfire at Spanish Fork Krishna Temple

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to identify suspects behind the 20–30 shots fired at the temple this month.

Overview

  • Surveillance video captured a vehicle pulling up to the fence, someone opening fire, and then speeding away from the property.
  • Temple leaders label the attacks as hate crimes and domestic terrorism after bullets pierced the dome, arches and windows.
  • The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has recovered roughly 30 shell casings and is treating the case as a potential religiously motivated assault.
  • With no arrests so far, the temple has added nightly guards, extra lighting, cameras and fencing and is offering a $1,000 reward for tips.
