Overview

• Lizbeth Hurtado-Breton, 36, was arrested in Midvale on Sept. 30 and booked into the Salt Lake County jail on charges of first-degree child torture and two counts of aggravated child abuse.
• A DCFS caseworker at Primary Children's Hospital reported the 4-month-old had severe facial burns, multiple fractures, and a brain bleed, with injuries in different stages of healing.
• Court documents say the father provided photos and a video showing tape on the baby's mouth and alleged force-feeding, and he reported the infant's arms had been taped behind her back.
• Investigators say Hurtado-Breton told them she held the baby over steam from boiling water in a cooking pot to relieve congestion and acknowledged her hands felt very hot.
• Plea and attorney information were not available, and authorities say the infant remains under medical care as the case proceeds.
