Utah Mom Raises Over $1 Million for Funeral and Children's Future Amid Terminal Cancer Battle

Erika Diarte-Carr, diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung carcinoma, has been given three months to live and is planning her own funeral.

Erika Diarte-Carr, a single mother of two, was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung carcinoma in May 2022 after initially seeking treatment for a shoulder injury.
Her GoFundMe campaign, originally set to raise $5,000 for funeral expenses, has surpassed $1 million thanks to over 35,000 donors.
Diarte-Carr, who also suffers from Cushing's syndrome, has decided to discontinue cancer treatments following a terminal prognosis and is focusing on her remaining time with her children.
The funds raised will be placed into a trust fund for her children, Jeremiah, 7, and Aaliyah, 5, to ensure their future financial security.
Diarte-Carr expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and highlighted the emotional and financial toll her illness has taken on her family.
