Utah Man Gored by Bison After Attempt to Pet It

Halen Carbajal, who admitted to being 'naive' in the incident, is now recovering at home after a week in intensive care.

Halen Carbajal, a Utah man, was gored by a bison last month after attempting to pet it on a neighbor's property.
Carbajal suffered an 8-inch laceration, a broken rib, a lacerated liver, and a bruised lung from the incident.
He spent a week in the ICU at Utah Valley Hospital and is now recovering at home under the care of a home health nurse.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover Carbajal's medical expenses, raising nearly $5,000 of a $20,000 goal so far.
Faith Heaton-Jolley, a spokesperson for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, warned that bison are wild animals and can act aggressively if approached too closely.
