Utah Man Charged with Making Death Threats Against Palestinian Rights Organization

Amid Rising Anti-Muslim Bias, Kevin Brent Buchanan Faces Up to Five Years in Prison if Convicted

Kevin Brent Buchanan, a Utah man, has been arrested and charged with making repeated death threats against a Palestinian rights organization.
Buchanan allegedly left at least five voice messages for the organization, stating, in part, 'You're the enemy,' 'You're being catalogued,' 'You're gonna die' and 'You're dead people walking.'
The FBI traced the phone number to a burner phone purchased at a Walmart in Tooele, Utah, with a credit card belonging to Buchanan.
If convicted, Buchanan faces a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case comes amid a reported increase in anti-Muslim and anti-Arab bias incidents in the US since the start of the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza on Oct. 7.
