Smith Entertainment Group Plans to Build New Arena for Potential NHL Franchise

Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith's Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) has formally requested that the National Hockey League (NHL) initiate an expansion process to bring an NHL franchise to Utah.
SEG has stated it has the immediate ability to host an NHL team in Salt Lake City, using the Delta Center as an interim home before building a new arena designed for professional and Olympic hockey.
SEG's proposal includes plans to build a new arena in Utah, although the location for this potential new arena is yet to be determined.
The NHL has responded positively to SEG's interest, stating that Utah is a promising market and they look forward to continuing discussions.
Other cities such as Atlanta, Houston, and Quebec City have also expressed interest in an NHL expansion, and the future of the Arizona Coyotes remains uncertain.
