USS Constitution Leads Parade as Dozens of Tall Ships Finish Sail250 in Boston

More than 50 vessels remain docked in Boston Harbor for public tours, parades, receptions, civic programming.

Overview

  • The Parade of Sail, led by the USS Constitution on July 11, sailed past the Harbor Islands, Logan Airport and Charlestown before vessels docked along the waterfront.
  • More than 50 tall ships and historic military vessels now berth at Seaport, Charlestown and Rowes Wharf with public boarding allowed at each captain’s discretion.
  • Nearly 1,000 sailors and crew from roughly 16 nations took part in a Crew and Cadet Street Parade and captains from 20 countries were scheduled to meet Gov. Maura Healey and Mayor Michelle Wu at a State House reception.
  • The arrival capped a months-long East Coast itinerary that began in New Orleans and included stops in Norfolk, Baltimore and New York, drawing large waterfront crowds and packed viewing areas such as Fan Pier Park.
  • Highlighted ships include the Navy’s USS Constitution and the Coast Guard’s Barque Eagle, and the event has combined public tours, concerts and community programming that boost waterfront tourism and cultural exchange.
