USPS Sets Temporary Holiday Shipping Surcharges From Oct. 5 to Jan. 18

The Postal Service says the time-limited increases offset peak-season handling costs under its Delivering for America plan.

Overview

  • Adjustments apply to Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select, with no other products affected.
  • Retail increases are zone- and weight-based, such as $0.40–$3.00 more for Zones 1–4 and $0.90–$7.00 more for Zones 5–9 on Priority Mail, and up to $16.00 more on Priority Mail Express.
  • Commercial customers face separate tiered changes, including increases tied to cubic tiers and Parcel Select entries.
  • The Postal Regulatory Commission will review the filing before the surcharges take effect.
  • USPS published recommended Christmas shipping dates, including Dec. 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class, Dec. 18 for Priority Mail and Dec. 20 for Priority Mail Express.
