USPS Raises Forever Stamp to 78¢ as Rates Jump 7.4%

USPS says the 7.4% increase is needed to shore up finances under its Delivering for America plan.

Overview

  • The price of a First-Class Forever stamp increased from 73¢ to 78¢ on July 13.
  • Rates for other mail services rose across the board, with domestic postcards at 62¢, metered letters at 74¢, additional ounces at 29¢, and international postage at $1.70.
  • Competitive shipping services saw new fees take effect, including a 6.3% hike for Priority Mail, 7.1% for USPS Ground Advantage and 7.6% for Parcel Select.
  • The Postal Regulatory Commission approved the adjustments following USPS’s April proposal under its self-funded pricing authority.
  • USPS plans further rate reviews every January and July through 2027 as part of its 10-year Delivering for America strategy to reverse more than $100 billion in losses.
