Overview
- If approved, the temporary surcharges will take effect Oct. 5, 2025 through Jan. 18, 2026 on Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select services.
- Rates will be tiered by postal zone (1–9) and package weight, with the largest hike—about $16—applying to heavy, long-distance Priority Mail Express shipments.
- Retail customers will face slightly higher per-package increases than commercial shippers under the same weight and zone categories.
- The seasonal adjustment excludes postage stamps and other mail products, keeping those prices unchanged during the peak window.
- USPS says the move is designed to cover extra staffing and handling costs during its busiest holiday period.
