The Strandkorb World Championship, held on the island of Usedom, celebrated its 17th edition with record participation from 20 teams.
Participants raced in pairs, carrying or pushing 70-kilogram beach chairs over a 20-meter sandy track.
Phillip Schmidt and Robin Schulz, competing as Team 'Quad Safari,' won the final race in 4.91 seconds, matching the existing world record.
The event drew several hundred spectators and filled local hotels, boosting tourism during the typically quieter winter season.
The championship also featured children's races and a 'buntes Bad,' where costumed swimmers braved the frigid 3°C waters of the Baltic Sea.
