USDA Warns on Walmart Marketside Meatball Linguine After Listeria Detected in Pasta

Investigators are testing whether linguine from supplier Nate’s Fine Foods is linked to a deadly fettuccine outbreak as Walmart pulls the meals from stores.

Overview

  • FSIS issued a public health alert for 12‑oz Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce with best‑if‑used‑by dates Sept. 22, 24, 25, 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 2025, bearing EST. 50784 or EST. 47718, shipped nationwide to Walmart.
  • FreshRealm’s testing found Listeria monocytogenes in the pre‑cooked linguine ingredient; federal labs are conducting genetic testing to see if it matches the outbreak strain tied to chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals.
  • The CDC now reports at least 20 illnesses and 4 deaths in the ongoing multistate outbreak; no illness complaints have been reported for the Walmart meatball linguine product named in the alert.
  • Walmart says it has removed the affected meals from impacted stores, and consumers are urged not to eat them and to discard or return them; questions can be directed to Nate’s Fine Foods at 916‑677‑7303 or the USDA hotline.
  • FSIS says additional products may be added as traceback continues, and the alert also covers Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo with select dates produced by FreshRealm.
