USDA Recalls Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Meals Over Listeria Contamination

Samples from a FreshRealm facility collected in March matched the outbreak strain found in sick patients, prompting the ongoing investigation.

Overview

  • The FSIS announced the voluntary recall on June 17 for all chicken fettuccine alfredo trays produced before that date under Marketside and Home Chef brands.
  • The affected products carry establishment numbers EST. P-50784, EST. P-47770 or EST. P-47718 and best-by dates from June 19 to June 27, 2025.
  • Health officials have linked the outbreak to 17 illnesses across 13 states, including three deaths and one fetal loss.
  • Listeriosis poses severe risks to older adults, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals, with symptoms ranging from fever and muscle aches to convulsions.
  • Consumers are urged to discard the recalled meals or return them to Walmart or Kroger for a refund while the USDA continues to probe contamination sources.
