USDA Issues Health Alert for Walmart Marketside Meatball–Linguine Meals Over Listeria Finding

Federal testing is underway to determine whether the contamination matches the strain from June’s deadly chicken Alfredo outbreak.

Overview

  • The alert covers 12-ounce Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara trays with best-if-used-by dates Sept. 22, 24, 25, 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 2025, bearing EST. 50784 or EST. 47718.
  • Company-collected samples of the FDA-regulated pre-cooked linguine used in the meals tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, FSIS said.
  • FreshRealm said it advised Walmart to pull the items from stores; FSIS has not posted a formal recall and urges consumers to discard the meals or return them.
  • Officials are investigating whether the detected Listeria is genetically linked to the earlier multistate outbreak tied to chicken fettuccine Alfredo; FreshRealm says its testing found a strain matching that outbreak, which federal labs are evaluating.
  • Reporting identifies Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville, California, as the linguine supplier, and FSIS said additional products could be added as the investigation continues.
