USDA Issues Health Alert for HelloFresh Meals After Spinach Tests Positive for Listeria

Regulators expect to identify more products in an ongoing investigation.

Overview

  • FSIS warned against two HelloFresh ready-to-eat items produced by FreshRealm: Cheesy Pulled Pork Pepper Pasta (10.1 oz) and Unstuffed Peppers with Ground Turkey (10 oz).
  • FreshRealm notified FSIS after routine testing found Listeria monocytogenes in the spinach ingredient; the meals were shipped directly to customers between Sept. 6 and Oct. 9, 2025.
  • HelloFresh said a recall was issued, customers were contacted to discard affected products, and only Ready Made Meals are implicated, not cook-your-own meal kits.
  • No illnesses have been reported in connection with these HelloFresh meals; high-risk individuals are urged to monitor for flu-like symptoms and seek medical advice if concerned.
  • The alert follows broader Listeria findings tied to FreshRealm’s supply chain, including pasta from Nate’s Fine Foods, which has been linked to multistate recalls and at least 20 illnesses and four deaths.
