USCIS Raises Select Immigration Fees Effective Oct. 16, 2026

The agency says filings postmarked on or after that day lacking the new payments will be returned, which can strip applicants of an official receipt date and delay cases.

Overview

  • USCIS published a fiscal year 2027 fee adjustment that takes effect Friday, October 16, 2026, and will apply to any package with that postmark date or later.
  • The specific increases include initial employment authorization (Form I-765) from $560 to $570, TPS applications (I-821) from $510 to $520, certain parole-related I-131 fees from $1,020 to $1,050, and the annual fee for pending asylum (I-589) from $102 to $105.
  • USCIS warned it will reject filings postmarked on or after October 16 that do not include the updated fee, there is no grace period, and a rejected submission will not receive an official receipt date.
  • Some fees remain unchanged because of statutory rules or rounding, for example EAD renewals for TPS stay at $280, EAD renewals for asylum applicants stay at $275, and other items such as the I-360 and the $24 I-94 charge are unaffected.
  • The increases flow from the H.R.1 statutory inflation formula using the CPI-U (about a 3.36% change from July 2025 to July 2026), so applicants and attorneys should confirm the exact fee, use the current form edition, and note USCIS changed I-485 filing addresses on October 7 to avoid costly rejections and delays.
