- USCIS and related court measures preserve EADs, I-797 notices and I-94 records for Venezuelans who re-registered under the Jan. 17, 2025 extension and received documents issued by Feb. 5, 2025.
- Certain work permits receive an automatic extension of up to 540 days only if the beneficiary re-registered and had a timely I-765 renewal received with an I-797 receipt before Feb. 6, 2025.
- An EAD tied to a pending asylum application (category C08) is governed by the card’s printed expiration and the asylum case, so it does not automatically end when TPS protections stop.
- Employers may accept an expired TPS EAD together with an I-797C receipt as valid Form I-9 evidence while an authorized automatic extension or timely renewal applies.
- After Oct. 2, 2026 the TPS-linked documents will no longer provide work authorization unless a new USCIS or court action occurs so affected people should check their EAD category, keep receipts and seek accredited legal help to pursue renewals or other status options.
