Overview

  • U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Air Force crews executed simultaneous medical evacuations for a 52-year-old in cardiac arrest and a 99-year-old with a complete esophageal obstruction about 145 nautical miles west of Cape Flattery.
  • The Canadian CH-149 Cormorant hoisted the 52-year-old and transported her to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, supported by a CC-295 Kingfisher providing aerial coordination.
  • A U.S. MH-65 Dolphin from Air Station Port Angeles hoisted the 99-year-old and conducted a wing-to-wing transfer to a Life Flight Network aircraft at Neah Bay, Washington.
  • The Coast Guard released video of the hoist operation, and officials praised established cross-border procedures that enabled a rapid response at sea.
  • 19 Wing Comox said the same crews are slated to train together during SAREX 2025 next month, while Princess Cruises had not immediately provided comment.
