USC Women’s Basketball Begins NCAA Tournament

The Trojans, led by JuJu Watkins, aim for their third national title, starting with a first-round matchup against UNC Greensboro at the Galen Center.

USC earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year after a strong 28-3 season, despite a loss to UCLA in the Big Ten Tournament final.
The Trojans will face No. 16 seed UNC Greensboro, Southern Conference champions making their first NCAA appearance since 1998, in the first round at noon on Saturday.
JuJu Watkins, the Big Ten Player of the Year, leads USC with 24.6 points per game and is motivated to improve on last year’s Elite Eight finish.
USC has significantly improved its offense this season, averaging 81.5 points per game, with key contributions from Stanford transfer Kiki Iriafen and a stronger defensive lineup.
A potential rematch with UConn, whom USC defeated earlier this season, looms in later rounds as the Trojans pursue their first championship since 1984.
